Synccinema Quickie - Varudu Kavalenu

V arudu Kavalenu - Strong Belief ultimately gives good results, like for the boy and girl here. Varudu Kavalenu successfully carries forward the rare tradition of having unparalleled conviction in making a truly enjoyable family entertainer. The same family entertainers which have that unresisting owning quality for our Telugu Audience. The same family entertainers which are marred for few peculiar and repetitive issues when made by  Trivikram  in recent times. Those chirpy sidekicks, quirky comedy, rich production value and most importantly not losing out on what makes a movie palatable to the audience whose mother tongue is Telugu. Characters in  Varudu Kavalenu  talk words like architecture and  gudi , not in the same scene/context. Characters in  Varudu Kavalenu  talk words like project report and  sree rama koti . Again, not in the same scene/ context.  It's not only about highlighting the variety in topics or words that conversations ar...

Synccinema Quickie - Republic

Image
R epublic - A Film by “A man who understands human nature” I sat through the entire end credits of the movie while it was making a grim extension to its point by slapping me on my face about Democracy and how it works? And Why, Where it doesn’t work?. Immediately as the final frame ended, Sid Sriram’s embellished  gamakas  crawled into my ear as he picked up “ Maguva… Maguva..” At that moment, my mind veneered into the  cinematic  world of easy solutions, fervent actions and binary characters. He’s, in a word, coming of age white knight. He’s a hero who’s ...

Thoughts on Love Story

I’m not especially addressing financial background as a requisite of division, to put it in simple words, the strained relationship between a person from a family of means and the other not so much, because this particular line has become a major subtext of rom-drams mentioned before.   Now take a movie like  Uppena,  or  Colour Photo  or  Sridevi Soda Centre  or…………, the equation is simple, there is a village, a  boy  and  girl  by virtue of destiny cross each other, the  boy  is flattered first (  girl  also, but we generally see the world from  boy’s  eye),  boy  meets  girl ,  boy  stubbles ( you know a better word) the  girl ,  boy  proposes and simul...
