Synccinema Quickie - Prati Roju Pandage

Image
Prati Roju Pandaage(PRP) – Maruthi ups his game, but falls short of his best work  Bhale Bhale Magadivoy.                                Raghu Ramayya, a man well in his Dotage, has his days numbered with his lung-cancer reaching its Final stage. Bidding farewell becomes a task as his family and the extended find spending his last days a Herculean task, drawing out time from their busy ticking clocks. But, his grandson Sai has different plans in getting all together . Firstly, the movie isn’t a Sai Dharam Tej starrer. It was a hard fact to accept and it’ll be even for you as he gets lost in the drivel as a caring grandson staling out as a spur for humane emotion, to the natural and aced performances by Sathyaraj, Rao Ramesh and others. Mainly, to the former, as his character as a withdrawn senior, throbbing and yearning for his family, gets placed right at the crux or is the crux of the movie. Sathyaraj nails his part as the dotage and devoid of family. Marut

Synccinema Quickie - Knives Out

Image
Knives Out – A classic whodunit Agatha Christie-style. The family of Thrombeys are stuck by the death of Harlan Thrombey, a Crime writer, when they get together on his 85th Birthday. It’s up to Detective Benoit Blanc to solve the mystery behind the mans demise. What follows is a satisfying as well as a hilarious tale of the WHODUNIT crime-solving mystery.  Director and Writer Rian Johnson perfectly takes the old school murder mysteries and turns it into a new age entertaining suspense drama. The perfectly balanced meta, as well as novelistic style, along with some enjoyable comedy brings out a cocktail of emotions and genres, everything, lying inside the overarching theme.  Just like one of those age-old Ag.Christie’s or Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories that you might have read or heard about in your childhood. The characters written by Rian are a delight as a whole and also singly. The Daughters, Sons, In-laws, everyone create a crackling drama with their wittiness

Synccinema Quickie - Kaithi (Khaidi)

Image
Kaithi ( Khaidi) - Karthi 's Kaithi is a Crackling Diwali "Panch-Pataka" with the crime, thrill, angst, innocence, humour being the powder, the Technicalities and Karthi's Dilli being the spark, setting the BO ablaze. A seized ton of cocaine, an accused feudal big shot striking deals with mobs to get back his grab on it, the team of police with their lives on-line, an 80km stretch to be covered overnight on a lorry, amidst this is a freed and released Prisoner longing for the first sight of his daughter. Can the men chained to their perplex position make it through the night? Kaithi has the overarching theme of distinguishing the border between Police-criminal and Good-bad. The former has its line erased whereas the latter shapes to create a thick divide on that night. Positives - 1) Story - The narrative is a slow - poison, setting off fires of thrill mutely and ends up the first half in a nail-biting establishment of the scenario. Though the second half

A Milestone for a Milestone - Celebrating 15 years of Anand

Image
Anand is a well versed and for many, is "Like a Refreshing Cup of Coffee", both literally and figuratively.  Hoping that you’ve seen or faintly remembered its plot.                                                  Early mornings are a beauty, especially as rise and shine goes along with you hearing hums of a Carnatic tune, chill breeze, lush green sight, a small sit-out, a touch of fog and a cup of Coffee, that too if served by your love....feels like an outlandish Fantasy or a yearly holiday to a hill-station. Well, in Shekhar Kammula’s universe of Anand, these atmos are built at your very doorstep. “Anand completes its loving 15 long years post its release and still feels ageless. Anand will remain as a true legend and a textbook for budding writers and directors in Romantic Genre” Shekhar Kammula, by far, is a proven director for Telugu Audience in tackling with unadorned and austere stories with the trend, trick and true mix

My take on Joker

Image
Joker - A testament to the Clown Prince of Crime                                              Memories dating back to 2008, the Nolan's Dark Knight, Micheal Caine says, " Some men aren't looking for anything logical, they cannot be borrowed, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just wanna watch the world BURN!" This movie charts down the idea and the man behind the burn. It's the story of the man who is just chaotic and vicious in normalcy. It's the story of Arthur Fleck. Rather nicknamed ironically by his mother, as Happy, is a struggling artist and a broken man, moreover a browbeaten son. He has an ailing mother to be taken care of. He's out of Cash, family, friends, job, has everything but welfare. We get to know that Arthur hasn't even been happy for one minute of his life. We also see him write notes and cracks sick jokes on his living that"He never even knew that he existed and his entire life was a tragedy".

Now Premiering - Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya

Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya – New age Comic Detective Thriller. Release - 2019 Starring - Naveen Polishetty, Shruthi Sharma and others Director - Swaroop RSJ Written by - Swaroop RSJ and Naveen Polishetty Producer - Rahul Yadav Nakka Available on - Amazon Prime Video Agent Sai Srinivas Athreya is a private detective agent having his office addressed at Nellore Vegetable Market. Athreya with his typical mindset in this oddly typical Nellore is in search of a big case to solve as his agency as expected doesn't deal with huge numbers of cases. When one eventually reaches him, he has to embark a tougher more wrenching moves to solve the case. Ironically and also comically to establish a detective agency in a town like Nellore, where the crime has a different direction and definitions laid makes the protagonist’s job odd and out of the box. This gets complimented by Athreya’s characterization which goes hand in hand with his set up, which, also being out of the box.

My take on Saaho

Image
Saaho – Loud, Lurid and Lame, for all the dazzles are nothing but shame. Release - 30th August 2019 Starring - Prabhas, Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Niel Nithin Mukesh, Arun Vijay, Chunky                  Pandey, Mandira Bedi and others  Written and Directed by Sujeeth Screenplay  - Sujeeth Producer - UV Creations How much more grandeur can you fit in a story? How much more deviated can a movie be from the plot? How much does one buy into the world that is shown? Are some pressing questions where Saaho slipped in its run. Saaho!! India’s answer to the Action-Thriller Genre is the most anticipated and awaited of the year. The country waited for the film’s release for 2 lasting years, but the team wants you to wait for another 3 hrs, testing your patience badly. Was it worth the wait at least after the butt-numbing 3hrs? Answer is... Saaho, at a skeleton level, is 2 storylines twining onto one another. The first is a hierarchical imbalance at the cr

My take on Sesh's Evaru

Image
Evaru - If you're new to this story then Evaru will be a weekend saviour to savour your whims for a suspenseful thriller. Release - 15th August 2019 Starring - Adivi Sesh, Regina Cassandra, Naveen Chandra, Nihal Kodathy and others Director - Venkat Ramji Screenplay and Dialogues - Abburi Ravi Producers - PVP Cinema When the projector started gliding the movie on the screen, we see the movie's title named "Sesh's Evaru" on its Censor Certificate also stating that it's just 117min long. Now as an avid fan of Adivi Sesh's picture and recent Thrillers of Telugu Cinema, puzzles raised in my mind as to why is the title Evaru being prefixed with Sesh? is it for publicity or can we expect an equally or a much better thriller than his former ventures Kshanam or Goodachari? After a few minutes, these questions along with its pocket-sized run time got mixed in the series of questions being asked in the movie which very much get tossed at us at th
