When the projector started gliding the movie on the screen, we see the movie's title named "Sesh's Evaru" on its Censor Certificate also stating that it's just 117min long. Now as an avid fan of Adivi Sesh's picture and recent Thrillers of Telugu Cinema, puzzles raised in my mind as to why is the title Evaru being prefixed with Sesh? is it for publicity or can we expect an equally or a much better thriller than his former ventures Kshanam or Goodachari? After a few minutes, these questions along with its pocket-sized run time got mixed in the series of questions being asked in the movie which very much get tossed at us at the drop of the hat. Sesh's Evaru, to be stated in a line, is the conversation between a corrupt cop Vikram Vasudev who's appointed to rescue Sameera(played by Regina)  against her accusations of Murder as she claims it as an act of self-defence for her being physically harassed. What follows is a series of question marks between them which joins the dots of the story inching us towards the truth.
Sesh's presence on screen does half the job of the movie's deliverance by setting the mood. Maybe it's because of Sesh's track record? but can also undoubtedly be his performance as a languorous, fraudulent and headstrong cop Vikram Vasudev. The audience gets well prepared for the thrill whenever Sesh appears on-screen expecting the twists that can hook them up. With those cheesy one-liners and take it easy attitude, he gives us a comic-relief amidst the growing tension effectively. Regina also gives a respectable performance with a bold and strong female personality. Her act has a healthy quotient to impress but overall she slightly falls short of her naturality and free flow of Sameera with her dialogue delivery and eloquence. She just fills the role with no extras.
The story is chilling and complete from its side to be made into a genre-film. Screenplay and Editing of the movie garnish the movie further. Screenplay and editing in this movie are used as a snug story-telling tool with every scene and every cut traversing to the next with intrigue. The questions remain enigmas multiplying the curiosity till the very end with its scenes spliced at right moments. The screenplay is well-defined and precise with the story adding pace to narrative.
It's in the direction which shouldn't tamper its intensity and Debutant Venkat Ramji is up to the mark. He never leaves the page the story is narrating and leaves no stone unturned. He pulls off the directorial part exceeding in keeping the audience glued to their seat. In its presentation as a whole, the movie has its story adapted with the flavour of melodrama. It doesn't deal in easy terms and somewhat smears it with generic heroism or elevation of its leads rather than being straight and setting an undertone. The deep - dark woods with the sun just setting low and a person stranded with blood on his grip, these lines might have been there on paper and were meant to chill the audience, but it just gets raced through with normalcy and that of melodrama. This also affects an overall appeal as the movie doesn't cash on its eeriness of accidents and crimes without inclusively propagating its resounding viciousness.
The dialogues by Abburi Ravi amplify the story with its single-liners and philosophical notions. They steer the movie in the right direction with correct intent though they proceed with a rapid pace. The dialogues add up the smartness in the story slacking depth to a greater extent. The conversations swiftly progress as the audience find it difficult to climb up the ladder along with its characters losing clarity. Music by Sricharan Pakala and Cinematographyhy Vamsi Patchipulusu are apt and slick with their work. At times, the music feels louder and more drenching the impact but on the whole, it's a decent job.
As we come back to our main questions that the movie is title Sesh's Evaru, whether is it an equally or a better venture than Kshanam or Goodachari? Did Adivi Sesh deliver again? The answer is, it depends on you. If you have watched either of its previous adaptation Badla(2019) or its origin Contratiempo( The Invisible Guest), then you would've felt Evaru as a histrionic rehash as its predecessors were more enticing and less flawed in the way Evaru was. Still, Evaru will be a pass-by thriller to watch out for. If you haven't watched either, then Evaru will be a weekend saviour to savour you whims for a suspenseful thriller. There's no question in that.
Did Adivi Sesh deliver again? the answer is preferably a thumbs up than a resounding yes.
